LDS (Mormon) Church publishes its first Spanish edition of the Bible

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

That's according to an article here, which says that this is the first time it's been published by the church by them in a language other than English. The article confused me for a moment as I thought it was talking about a Spanish edition of the Book of Mormon, because I remember seeing it even in Japanese as for some reason there were a lot of Mormons around Ichinomiya (close to Nagoya) where I used to live in 1999-2000.

The new translation was carried out on a 1909 edition sans copyright, and an example of one of the changes given there is "caridad being used for charity and Christ's love rather than the 1960 edition's amor, a more general word for love".
