Mondial example sentences, part 5: entertainment and driving around

Here is part 5 of the Mondial conversational examples that I am typing up bit by bit. With this we are just about halfway through. You may have noticed that the conversation is getting more and more complex, and so I am including the English equivalent of every Mondial sample.

Also, I have begun typing up the French - Mondial dictionary on a spreadsheet that can be seen here. After it is done I will flip the order around and order it alphabetically to create a master Mondial - French and other languages dictionary that can be added to bit by bit, and to which other languages can be added.

Distraciones -- Amusements

Yo audia que vu ha sete al teatre yer. -- I hear that you were at the theatre yesterday.

Si, nu ha vidate un comedía que evi multo amusante. Le actores i actoras ha ludate exelentemente. -- Yes, we saw a comedy which was very amusing. The actors and actresses played excellently.

Evi lo multe gente al teatre? -- Were there many people at the theatre?

Si, tute places evi ocupate, i le publico evi multo elegante, le seniores (homos) in fraque o smoquin, i le damas (femas) in robe de sera. -- Yes, all the seats were occupied, and the audience was very smart, the gentlemen (men) in dress-coats or dinner-jackets and the ladies (women) in evening dress.

Ha vu devate comprar bilietes in avance? -- Did you have to buy the tickets beforehand?

Si. Come nu ha ridate duran le representacion! Un jun dama, que sidavi devan (derier, a lato de) me, ridavi, si que el ploravi. -- Yes. How we laughed during the performance! A young lady who was sitting in front of (behind, beside) me laughed till she cried.

Ha anque votre fratre sete la? -- Was your brother there too?

No, yo evi sol, car il havi andate a un concerte. Il interesa se por musica. Come vu sava, il luda piano (violin, flute). -- No, I was alone because he had gone to a concert. He is interested in music. As you know, he plays the piano (violin, flute).

Sava tu coi on ha ludate? -- Do you know what they were playing?

Quel danses ama el? -- What dances does she like?

Tutes, ma avan tuto valse i foxtrote. Ma le arquestre deva ser exelente i sei cavalieros bon dansatores. -- All of them, but specially waltzes and foxtrots. But the orchestra must be first-rate and her partners good dancers.

El e multo gaye, nunca triste. -- She is very gay, never dull.

Ma non vola vu escultar algue disques de gramofon? -- But wouldn't you like to listen to some gramophone records?

Con plesur. -- With pleasure.

Pova yo ofrar vos un uisqui i soda? -- May I offer you a whisky and soda?

Multe gracie. Ma yo va cuchar me tosto, car yo ha somnie. -- Thank you very much. But I am going to bed early, because I am sleepy.


Un excursion -- An excursion

U ha tu sete? Yo ha telefonate a te plure voltes, ma nul ha respondate. -- Where have you been? I have telephoned you several times, but nobody answered.

Nu ha fate un excursion con un amico que poseda un auto. Il e riche (non e povre). -- We went for a trip with a friend who has a car. He is rich (isn't poor).

Conducta il bien? -- Does he drive well?

Si, ma il ha justo recevate su permise da conductar. -- Yes, but he has only just got his driver's licence.

Come lontanmente ha vu andate? -- How far did you go?

Il ha conductate nos a un montanie, du on ha un vide splendide sur le paesage. -- He drove us to a mountain from which there is a splendid view over the countryside.

Come apela se le montanie? (Quel e sui nome?) -- What is the mountain called? (What is its name?)

Yo ha ubliate lo, ma il e situate pre un bel lago. -- I have forgotten, but it is near a beautiful lake.

E lo lontano de ci? -- Is it far from here?

Cuinante o sexante quilometres. Le via evi plen de autos i motocicletes. -- Fifty or sixty kilometres. The road was full of cars and motor-cycles.

Ha tu prendate algue fotos? -- Did you take any photos?

Si, yo ha empruntate un aparate fotografique de un amico, que sola prestar lo a me. On ha justo developate le pelicul. -- Yes, I borrowed a camera from a friend who usually lends it to me. The film has just been developed.

Ha vu retornate directemente? -- Did you return direct?
