See what Portugal looks like from 30 km above

Here's an interesting project, by a group of people in Portugal that wanted to launch a balloon to 30,000 metres above the surface and take pictures of the ground and sea below from that altitude. After giving them a quick scan, this one is probably my favourite. Pity their site is only in English.

And while we're on the subject, another team recently carried out a similar project called Ikaros 1 (no relation to the Japanese probe now on its way to Venus) that was sent up to a similar altitude around San Francisco. Seems like there's one of these suborbital balloon missions every few weeks now.
