Leaving Newfoundland, arriving in France just one hour later

Here's an interesting post on St. Pierre & Miquelon by someone who recently visited there. Given their proximity to Newfoundland the islands are quite popular among students as a place to learn French. Compare the distance from St. John's Newfoundland to St. Pierre as compared to Quebec City:
