Mentions in the Norwegian press on reaching 250 000 articles on Wikipedia

Friday, March 05, 2010

A few days ago the Norwegian Wikipedia was on the verge of passing a quarter of a million articles and now it has, looking like this:

To commemorate this a press release was written here, and a few days later it seems there is a total of two articles in the press on the milestone.

A short one here, and a longer one here. It has taken the Wikipedia a little over a year to go from 200 000 to 250 000, and 1300 recent articles have been written on the Olympic Winter Games that just ended in Vancouver. I still find it a bit lacking in some basic areas such as this page on Kaunas (the second largest city in Lithuania) and a number of other areas that should have more than just a few sentences. On the other hand, it does have that article on the church in China that is of a pretty phenomenal length, that I mentioned in 2008.
