My cat Windy hates coffee

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Here's a video from yesterday that I just uploaded:

It's my cat Windy and he hates coffee, or at least I think he does. Every time he sees it he tries to bury it in the same way he buries stuff in the litterbox. But then again sometimes he'll try to bury his food as well so hard to say exactly why he does it.

We're talking in Korean so I thought I'd transcribe the dialogue here as well. So yeah, this is what I sound like when talking in Korean.

Me: 자, 윈디. -- Okay, Windy.
Gf: 무서운가봐. -- (He) seems afraid (of something).
Me: 커피 마셔봐. 지금 비디오 찍고 있어. -- Have some coffee. I'm taking the video now.
Gf: 어때? -- How's this?
Me: 아니, 바닥에 내려와서. -- No, let him come down to the floor first.
Gf: 일로와, 버디. -- Come on, Buddy. (Buddy's my nickname but she meant to say Windy here)
Me: 윈디, 여기 커피가 있어. -- Windy, there's coffee here.
Gf: 귀찮은거야. 아까... -- He doesn't want to. Just before...
Me: 윈디, 커피 냄새 좀 맡아봐. -- Windy, smell the coffee.
Me: 윈디! 아, 온다. -- Windy! Ah, he's coming.
Me: 자! 어때? 아침에 한 잔. 어때? 아침에 한 잔! -- Okay. How is it? One cup in the morning. How is it? One cup in the morning!

Sellamat Dave !

Though I don't know Korean, I understood the word "kopi" = "coffee". His behaviour around the cups is weird. He acts indeed as if he were trying to hide his shit when he moves his paws on the floor !

Easy. He's trying to bury it because he thinks is smells like his poo!

Hi Dave, I just found your blog while fact-checking for a book in production. The "fact" was to do with Hangul being so great that it was being "exported" to East Timor or somewhere where it was being welcomed like the second coming of christ by desperate natives forced to make do with the "English" alphabet - but I forget, since I got so distracted by your, excuse me, but I just have to say it f#*%ing wonderfully entertaining and enlightening blog! Cats! in Korea! Korean language explained in real life situations! With pictures! I'm in love. Thanks. I'll be back. As soon as I've finished my real job for the day.

Great, see you again soon! Now I just have to figure out who you are since you've left the comment anonymously. Someone from Dave's perhaps?
