WISE telescope achieves first light

The official mission has not yet begun though, as WISE still needs to calibrate and calibrate and calibrate some more ("matching the rate of the scan mirror to the rate of the spacecraft") before it can begin.

Due to needing a continuous supply of frozen hydrogen needed to properly take infrared pictures, WISE will finish its mission fairly quickly as it will be out of hydrogen by October.
