13 December 2009 (22 Azar 1388): Iranian government attempt to shame prisoner backfires

Monday, December 14, 2009

You can read about it on NIAC (National Iranian-American Council)'s blog here. For some reason the Iranian government thought it would be a good idea to dress up a political prisoner named Majid Tavakoli (مجید توکلی) in a hijab and publish the picture, thinking that it would shame him, but in response to this hundreds and hundreds of men have also taken a picture of themselves wearing a hijab in order to show solidarity with him.

Meanwhile, Khamenei's biggest concern is an apparently defaced picture of Khomeini (very likely faked). And yesterday as well over 1000 university students held a protest at a number of universities due to basij and other thugs being let in to the universities on 16 Azar who then beat protesting students. Well, and because of the election and students and citizens being imprisoned and everything else of course.

Edit: by the way, Kermit the Frog has also given his support:
