Iranian Azeris can spend their lifetime without writing a word of Azeri, because they are illiterate in it (and when they are, they write with Perso-Arabic script). Rarely they know how to write Azeri with the modified Latin script used in the Republic of Azerbaijan, and if they do, it is normally because they are Pan-Türk.
Normally, the written language and the language of culture is for them Persian.
