Question for historical linguists (or anybody else that feels like it)

Bilingual street sign in Tolosa / Toulouse: Occitan (Carrièra del Taur) is written below.

What do you think the world's linguistic situation would be like now if:
  1. Germany had been unified around Low German instead of High German,
  2. Hitler had never existed and these millions of speakers of Yiddish (based around Low German in this alternate reality),
  3. France had been unified around Occitan instead of French,
  4. Occitan had been the language that influenced English instead of French over recent centuries.
