İran yönetimi, seçme yaşını 18'den 16'ya indirmek üzere çalışma başlattı.
The Iranian administration has started work on lowering the voting age from 18 to 16.
İçişleri Bakanı Ali Kurdan, genç bir nüfusa sahip İran'da demokratik katılımcılığı artırmak için seçme yaşını 16'ya indirmeye çalıştıklarını söyledi.
Interior Minister Ali Kordan (علی کردان) said that they were working on lowering the voting age to 16 in order to increase the democratic participation in Iran, which has a young population.
"Cumhurbaşkanı (Mahmud) Ahmedinecad ve hükümeti, gençlerin siyasi ve sosyal meselelerde daha etkin rol almaları için seçme yaşını düşürmeye kararlı" diyen Kurdan, öğrenim çağındaki neslin karar verme yetkisini önemsediklerini ifade etti.
Kordan said that "President (Mahmud) Ahmadinejad (محمود احمدی‌نژاد) and the government are agreed on lowering the voting age in order for youth to take on a more active role in political and social issues", stating that they considered decision-making authority for the student generation to be important.
Nüfusun yaklaşık yüzde 40'ı 18-29 yaş grubunda olan İran'da, 30 yaşından gün alanlar milletvekili ve cumhurbaşkanı seçimlerinde aday olabiliyor.
In Iran, where around 40% of the population is between the ages of 18 to 29, those that have passed the age of 30 can be candidates for parliamentary and presidential elections.
İran'da 10. dönem Cumhurbaşkanlığı seçimi 12 Haziran 2009 tarihinde yapılacak.
The 10th Iranian presidential elections will take place on the 12th of June, 2009.
