AB Komisyonu, Gürcistan'la vize kolaylığı ve geri kabul anlaşması müzakerelerine başlamak için üye devletlerden onay istedi.

The EU Commission has asked for ratification from member countries to begin talks for an agreement with Georgia on easing visa restrictions and readmission.

Adalet ve güvenlikten sorumlu AB Komisyonu Başkan Yardımcısı Jacques Barrot, öğrenciler, iş adamları ve AB'ye seyahat etmek isteyen Gürcü vatandaşları için vize kolaylığının büyük önem taşıdığını vurgulayarak, dengeli bir yaklaşımla bir taraftan vize alımını kolaylaştırırken diğer yandan geri kabul anlaşmasıyla AB'de kaçak kalanları geri gönderme imkanına kavuşacaklarını bildirdi.

Jacques Barrot, the Vice-President of the European Commission Responsible for Justice, Freedom and Security, stressed that easing visa restrictions for Georgian citizens would be meaningful for students, businesspeople and those wanting to visit the EU, and that easing visa restrictions on one side with a balanced approach with an agreement on readmission on the other side would make it possible to succeed in repatriating those illegally in the EU.

AB'nin daha önce Rusya, Ukrayna ve Moldova gibi bölge ülkeleriyle imzaladığı anlaşmalara benzer şekilde Gürcistan'a, diplomatik pasaport sahiplerine vize muafiyeti, vize başvurusunun en fazla 10 günde sonuçlandırılması, AB'de yakın akrabası bulunanlar, gazeteciler, araştırmacılar ve öğrenciler gibi grupların başvuru ücretinden muaf tutulması ve bazı meslek sahiplerine çok girişli vize kolaylığı sağlanması gibi önerilerde bulunması bekleniyor.

In a similar vein to agreements made by the EU with regional countries like Russia, Ukraine and Moldova, the expected proposals will be visa exemption to those with diplomatic passports, visa applications to be completed in no more than 10 days, exemption of visa application fees for groups such as those with close relatives in the EU, journalists, researchers and students, and providing easier multi-entry visas to some professions.

The leaders of the EU want to show support for Georgia which saw a lot of damage in the war with Russia, and they agreed to a development of bilateral relations including easing visa restrictions in an emergency meeting in the beginning of this month.
