New interlinear translation soon: this time small, and free

Tuesday, March 04, 2014

After the translations of Demian and Kinderseele I made in 2012 and 2013, most of the remaining content from what I consider to be Hesse's most impressive period is quite short, lots of short stories and essays. None of these are large enough to make up a full book, but there are a lot of hidden gems out there that I had tentative plans to translate. The solution: do them one at a time, make them free, and use them as a kind of PR for the concept of interlinear translation itself.

About ten days ago I started a small piece from this book, and it is nearing completion. Very easy when one is translating something so small. Even when the extra lines and spacing have been added it will probably be just 12 pages, albeit full-sized ones. The original text is about 1700 words. As early as next weekend we may see it completed and online somewhere.
