Number of students learning Chinese in Andalusian language program up by 20% over one year

Friday, November 09, 2012

From here in Spanish yesterday on a Chinese language program in Andalusia. This one looks to be funded by Andalusia itself and doesn't seem to have anything to do with the Confucius Institute:
The number of students enrolled in the Chinese language in the autonomous community of Andalusia has increased by between 15% and 20% compared to the past year in which, for the first time, the subject was offered outside school hours in a total of 10 public primary and secondary educational centres. In the 2011/2012 there were 658 students enrolled in Andalusia, meaning that the current number should be 780...Classes are taught by Chinese teachers in selected centres in Andalusia with a workload of 20 weekly hours in the afternoon.
