Colombia offers to send teachers to China to teach Spanish

From here in Spanish today referring to remarks made by the Colombian president during his current visit to China:

"We want to make Colombian Spanish teachers available to China to teach the language" said president Juan Manuel Santos on Wednesday during a conference in Peking University.

Highlighting the fact that there is a Spanish faculty in the university, the president announced a donation to the faculty of 250 recent books by Colombian authors.

During the conference, president Santos referred to a program that has operated since 2006 where Chinese teachers visited Colombia annually to aid in the teaching of Mandarin: "Since 2006 we have had a program in Colombia through which 20 young Chinese professionals come to the country every year, recent graduates of foreign languages, to aid in the teaching of Mandarin in Colombian universities, spread Chinese culture and perfect their Spanish."
