Sunday, January 31, 2010

Read about it here or see the page in Spanish here. Though having the entire site available in Spanish is a new development, more basic information on the census itself has already been extremely multilingual, with information even in such languages as Amharic, Chamorro and Yiddish. Actually, the 2-page pdf available in these languages makes a quick and easy resource for comparing two languages side by side. Thanks to that we can see that:

Verwenden Sie einen blauen oder schwarzen Schreibstift
(use a blue or black pen)

in German is
Gebruik een blauwe of zwarte pen
in Dutch,
רעדעפ עצראווש א רעדא עיולב א טצונ
in Yiddish and
Naudokitės mėlynu arba juodu rašikliu
in Lithuanian.
