Afrikaans Wikipedia has an absolutely huge page on Finnish grammar

Friday, January 15, 2010

If you want to learn Finnish grammar, Afrikaans is one of the best languages to do so. The Afrikaans Wikipedia is one I like to write about from time to time as it is very well deserving of the attention but likely doesn't get the respect it deserves as it can barely even be found on the list of Wikipedias, being in 78th place. In terms of depth though (depth is a rough calculation of a Wikipedia's quality and is found by the following formula -
(Edits/Articles × Non-Articles/Articles × Stub-ratio)) it's near the top of the list of Wikipedias with article counts under 100,000.

The article on Finnish even includes a number of examples from the Kalevala showing Finnish word order compared to Afrikaans:

Fins

A list of other good articles on the Afrikaans Wikipedia can be seen here, including such subjects as the Winter War, Iceland, the Moon, Hamlet, and Norway.
