How many Portuguese language teachers are there in East Timor?

Friday, December 04, 2009

Here's the answer: 170, a number that many feel to be far too low. The population of East Timor as a whole is barely over a million though, so 170 is not astronomically low, though certainly not high enough to make the entire population fluent in the language. Somewhere around 20% of the population at present speaks Portuguese.
