Space exploration gets the Colbert Bump too

Saturday, August 22, 2009

The next Shuttle launch will be carrying the COLBERT to the ISS, and Stephen Colbert will be making a special message on the eve of the launch. I've often said that Stephen Colbert does as much for science and space exploration as just about any TV series not specifically devoted to space and science, and the continued attention to his exploits brings attention to NASA that they wouldn't have otherwise been able to attract. After the message has been broadcast you'll be able to see it on NASA's YouTube channel here, which is especially good for Canadians who always have a hard time viewing The Daily Show and The Colbert Report online.

An average online video clip from the Colbert Report will get up to 25,000 to 50,000 views or so, and this will probably be viewed by a few hundred thousand due to the extra media attention it will gather.
