Keep an eye on YouTube, search using Persian/Farsi a bit

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

I've noticed that in spite of the huge Twitter traffic on #Iranelection a lot of videos uploaded to YouTube written in Persian only are still going unnoticed. Here's one uploaded three hours ago that only has 5 views:

On the right it says "supporters of Mir-Hossein Mousavi in Azadi Square in Tehran". Not sure whether it's actually footage of today, but it was uploaded just three hours ago.

You don't need to know Persian to do this, of course - just find a few keywords that you can copy and paste, then search according to date instead of relevance. Here are some:

تهران Tehran
اعتراض protest
سیراز Shiraz
تبریز Tabriz
موسوی Mousavi
احمدی نژاد Ahmadinejad
ولی عصر Valiasr

and so on. Most of the time place names can be found pretty easily on Wikipedia.
