Interview in Swedish with former ABBA member Björn Ulvaeus on his views about religion (he's not a fan)

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

I've been addicted to following the constant debate between religion, atheism, agnosticism, ignosticism and all the other -isms since at least junior high, and often have some sort of video or podcast running in the background discussing or debating the subject as I do other things. Even better though is when you can find one in another language, as is the case with this interview with former ABBA member Björn Ulvaeus and his views on religion (which he doesn't particularly like):

(the discussion doesn't start until 33 seconds into the video so you'll probably want to skip ahead)

As someone who has studied a certain amount of Norwegian, Swedish sounds kind of like Norwegian but with more vowel sounds and harder consonant sounds, like ock for and instead of og (which sounds like oh) and också for also instead of også (which sounds kind of like oh-saw), and with the complete lack of background sounds or people talking over each other this is probably one of the best videos to show anyone who wants to hear what the language sounds like.

Final thought: does buying your own plane really make you safer? I thought that smaller planes had higher accident rates.
