Batman governor condemned for police intervention in Batman protests

Batman'da terör örgütü PKK lideri Abdullah Öcalan'ın yakalanmasının 10'uncu yıldönümü nedeniyle Sanat Sokağı'nda düzenlenen basın açıklamasına polisin sert müdahale etmesi nedeniyle 20 kişi yaralandı. Göstericilerin üzerine basınçlı su sıkan ve göz yaşartıcı bomba atan polis, grubu cop kullanarak dağıttı. Göstericiler polisin müdahalesi karşısında yere düşen çocuklarının üzerine kapanarak onları korumaya çalıştı, ancak başarılı olamadı, 7 çocuk ezilme sonucu yaralandı. Olaylarda 13 kişi de çeşitli yerlerinden yaralanarak hastanelere kaldırıldı.
20 people have been injured through strong police intervention at a public statement arranged at Sanat Street for the 10th anniversary of the seizing of Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, in the city of Batman. The police shot pressurized water and tear gas bombs at the protestors, and beat them with batons. Demonstrators tried to protect children that had fallen to the ground against the police intervention, but were unsuccessful and seven children were beaten down. 13 people were also injured in the events and were taken to hospitals.
DTP Batman milletvekilleri Bengi Yıldız ile Ayla Akat Ata, olayların ardından bir grup DTP'li ile basın açıklaması yaptı. Milletvekili Bengi Yıldız, “Bu ülkede toplantı ve yürüyüş özgürlüğü olduğunu söyleyenleri gördük. Bu olayların büyümesinde etkisi olan Batman Valisi Recep Kızılcık'ı kınıyoruz. Batman Valisi, AKP'nin valisi gibi hareket ediyor” dedi.
The DTP (Democratic Socialist Party) members of parliament for Batman, Bengi Yıldız and Ayla Akat Ata, held a press conference with a group of DTP members after the events. Bengi Yıldız said that "What we saw here were people expressing their freedom to gather and march. We condemn the Governor of Batman Recep Kızılcık for causing these events to increase in scope. The Governor of Batman is acting like an AK Party governor."
