Georgia gets emergency loan from IMF

Det internasjonale pengefondet (IMF) har innvilget drøyt 4,3 milliarder kroner i kriselån til Georgia.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has granted $750 million in emergency loans to Georgia.

Lånet skal bidra til å stabilisere økonomien i Georgia, i kjølvannet av landets væpnede konflikt med Russland i forrige måned.

The loan will help to stabilize the economy in Georgia, in the wake of the country's armed conflict with Russia in the previous month.

IMF håper at kriselånet skal bidra til å dempe utenlandske investorers bekymring over situasjonen i Georgia.

The IMF hopes that the emergency loan will help to allay concerns of foreign investors over the situation in Georgia.

I forrige uke fikk Georgia løfte om nødhjelp til en verdi av nærmere 6 milliarder kroner fra USA, og mandag kunngjorde EU-kommisjonen at de ville bidra med rundt 4 milliarder kroner til gjenoppbygging etter konflikten med Russland.

In the previous week Georgia obtained promises of $1 billion from the United States, and on Monday the European Commission announced that they would contribute $700 million for reconstruction after the conflict with Russia.
