Kohelet (Ecclesiastes) in Ido: 12:1 - 12:8

Monday, March 31, 2008

Since I'm spending every day trying to memorize Ecclesiastes, I might as well translate it into Ido as well. I think I'll start from the last chapter and work backwards this time though. Since I know no Hebrew I'll be using the New American Standard, the most literal of all biblical translations.

Maybe after I finish translating it and have it corrected by those better than I am, I'll record the mp3s and put them up on YouTube, then here.

(Note: As I thought, I'm way faster at writing things in Ido than any other IAL. That's because it's the best.)

English version of chapter 12 here.

  • 12:1 Memorez anke tua Kreanto en la dii di tua yuneso, ante ke la mala dii venas e la yari proximigas en qua tu dicos, "Me havas nula joyo en oli";
  • 12:2 ante ke la suno e la lumo, la luno e la steli obskureskas, e nubi retrovenos pos la pluvo;
  • 12:3 en la dio en qua la garderi di la domo tremas, e viri forta abasas su, ti qui grindas stacas neaganta pro ke li esas poka, e ti qui vidas tra fenestri obskureskas;
  • 12:6 Memorez Ilu kande la arjenta kordo ruptesis e la ora boro aplastesas, la krucho apud la puteo frakasesas e la roto a la cisterno aplastesas;
  • 12:7 lore la polvo retrovenos a la tero en sua olima stando, e la spirito retrovenos a Deo, qua olun donis.
  • 12:8 "Vaneso di vanaji," dicas Kohelet, "omno esas vaneso!"
